The institutes that make up the GridPP Collaboration are grouped as follows:
- The UK Tier-1 centre, hosted at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL);
- 18 UK university-based Tier-2 sites grouped into four Regional Tier-2s.
At the beginning of 2012, these GridPP sites provide around 30,000 logical CPUs and about 29 PB of disk-based storage. Both the Tier-1 centre and the regional Tier-2s are governed by the Deployment Board (DB). This has overall responsibility for the deployment strategy and the integration of Tier-1 and Tier-2 resources into a production quality Grid to meet the needs of the experiments. This is also the forum where providers and users formally meet so that direct dialogue takes place.
