  • UK Infrastructure Roadmap survey- Discussion around this
  • WLCG Environmental Sustainability Workshop, 11-13 December at Cern. https://indico.cern.ch/event/1450885/
  • Glasgow are making contributions towards this. DB wanted to flag in case JH and others were interested.
    ATLAS Experiment (underground area) – there will be tours at 1pm or 2pm on Friday. Might have to be quick to get a place on this.  
  • GridPP53 – It is very likely this will take place in Manchester, 9-11th April 2025.
    • There are a few questions around accommodation. If some affordable options can be found we will proceed with this.
    • Might be SWIFT-HEP component. Will confirm with DCos.  

STANDING ITEMS

SI-0 Tier-1 Manager’s weekly report & Technical Meetings [AD]

Technical meeting next Friday, 15th on the mini UK data challenge. Hopefully another one on Token integration as well. AD working on this as we have not had many recently due to CHEP and other activities.
Tier 1 – Quite quiet with people away at conferences.
Couple of things to note:
Break for 26 hours in LHCOPN connection to RAL – problem at Cern. Hopefully hear from them when they understand what is happening.
Upgrade of Echo from Ceph to Pacific. Been going on for a little over a week now. Hopefully finish the middle of this month.
Cephalocon (the annual Ceph conference) in December. Hoping to get answers on stability of later Ceph releases, re issues at Tier-2s with Reef. Batch farm continuing to do work. Echo and Antares are busy.

SI-1 ATLAS Weekly Review and Plans [DCos]

SI-2 CMS Weekly Review and Plans [DC, KE]  
CMS computing week last week, which went well.
Mini data challenges – KE now understands the Rucio load injection tool.
CHEP –  writing a summary for PPD (PC wanted a copy of the summary)
Tier 1 operations – minor issues on the CMS side, but not much to report. .

SI-5 LCG Management Board Report of Issues [DB]

No meeting last week.

SI-6 External Contexts (eg NGI/EGI) [PC/JH]
JH asked if anyone had/was submitting a grant proposal for TFS based grant proposal for IRIS.
JH got 80% through process, but not completed yet.
Something to pay attention to.
SS / JH to talk about the TFS process once JH has managed it for IRIS & QMUL so we can provide advice to the other PIs getting funds.

REVIEW OF ACTIONS
868.3 DB and SS to look at Storage accounting – ongoing (quite complex issue)
889.1 KE and AF to report to PMB on preparations for the 2024/25 data challenges.
