ITEMS

0) Network Forward Look
Last meeting it was discussed that Core tier 2 sites were to send Duncan an update (AF, DC and Glasgow)
SS said Glasgow would send something to Duncan (SS and Gordon are looking into this now).
PC asked if DC could prompt Duncan to chase any outstanding information. Advised that if they don’t send the information can he just input something and finalise this week.
DC to liaise with Duncan about this.

AOCB:
Update on Electricity Budget Constraints at RAL [AS]
Group discussion around this. Work is ongoing.

ATLAS Virtual Placement to be dropped?
SS said it was strategically useful to us that VP exists.
It was agreed we ask for update next week after the ATLAS week.
SS to give an update at the next meeting.

Quarterly report update [SS]
Still waiting for FedServices.
SS wanted to flag several Tier-2 reports were delivered with a caveat note that “not all sites responded”. This issue seems to be around the Narrative requirement from all sites. We perhaps need reduce the narrative requirement then it won’t be necessary to complete this.
SS to look at this moving forward.

STANDING ITEMS

SI-0 Tier-1 Manager’s weekly report & Technical Meetings [AD] report send by AD during  meeting.

  • Technical Meetings

None last week.  We have a meeting on Token Transition update this week (https://indico.cern.ch/event/1410697/).  I will schedule a meeting on the Energy Aware Solutions in the next few weeks.  I will also schedule a meeting on EL9 migration.

  • Tier-1 Operations

Business as usual.  One GGUS ticket because we didn’t submit a Tape usage figure in CRIC for ATLAS for April.

New LTO-9 Tape arrived last week.  We have started to repack TS1160 to LTO-9 in the background (3 tapes a day).  We are not retiring any hardware, we are simply distributing the data across the different media types more evenly to ensure we can make use of all the Tape drives.

The Lenovo 22 CPU was drained and rebooted to apply a patch to fix an issue with crashing NVMe drives.

The old physical CVMFS Stratum-1’s are finally being decommissioned and replaced with virtual machines relying on CephFS backend.  One of the servers lost connectivity to the backend and needed to be fixed.

SI-1 ATLAS Weekly Review and Plans [DCos] RJ gave update.
Tier 1 slightly underused because group activity not very high.
There are a couple of tickets out against Glasgow which have been open for a little while.
RALPP  – (ARC) GridFTP job statuses not being updated. Just small niggles.

SI-2 CMS Weekly Review and Plans [DC/KE]
Quarterly report figures – could we review/streamline what we are reporting on. Speak with SS.
Tier 1 not much to report.
Removal of VOMS infrastructure. Move on to IAM. (Exact plan may have changed post the Workshop)
CHEP PC ongoing.
CMS – tokens in Rucio not being rolled out yet, prob same in ATLAS and LHCb.
KE and EF have now had an email discussion around yearly mini-Data Challenges. They thought it best to wait until the end of data taking. Perhaps November/December. Perhaps wait to speak with DB, but this seems sensible moving forward.

SI-3 LHCb Weekly Review and Plans [AM]
NTR
At LHCb meeting this week.

SI-4 Operations Meeting Report [SS,PG,PC] –
NTR – no meeting due to bank holiday weekend.

SI-5 LCG Management Board Report of Issues [DB]
NTR.

SI-6 External Contexts (eg NGI/EGI) [PC/JH]
NTR. Waiting on funding updates. No further updates to report.

AS – SPD have been given a budget line. Believe PPD have got a budget line.

REVIEW OF ACTIONS

68.3 DB and SS to look at Storage accounting – ongoing
880.3 KE and AF to come up with a proposal around how annual ‘UK Data Challenges’ can be organised. Ongoing.
Please note DUNE will be doing annual data challenges. We may or may not want to overlap with them. Should at least be informed when they schedule something. 882.1 Network Forward Look, Discussion above. Should be complete by the end of this week.
882.2 DB and PC – EIC computing – reminder to talk to Sarah and co at some point. (Waiting on response from Peter Jones, PC to follow up on this).
