Monday 2nd July

Monday 25th June

Monday 11th June

  • There is a pre-GDB Tuesday on benchmarking.
  • There is a June GDB on Wednesday.
  • HEPSYSMAN is next week 18th-19th June - so no ops meeting next Tuesday.
  • Winnie – 8th June problem with argo-mon.egi.eu
  • Progress towards running LSST DESC data challenge on GridPP. Lack of multicore option in DIRAC for per VO basis.
  • DPM 1.10.2 update issue
  • dCache and IPv6: GridFTP doors and pools require that if a client can connect to an IPv6 address on an interface, that interface should also have an IPv4 address to which that client can connect.
  • Brian: requested input last week to Hardware for Grid SE page.
  • Of note: VO vo.geoss.eu status from Pending to Production
  • APEL: delay in processing VM accounting records and new cloud data appearing in the Portal during the week of the 11th to 15th June. This is so that the APEL Repository can be updated to correctly assign the usage VMs incur to individual months when they run over month boundaries (i.e. long running VMs). This requires reloading a large volume of existing cloud accounting data once the update has been applied.
  • May A/R (waiting for replies to 6th June request):
    • ALICE All OK
    • Atlas RHUL 81% Lanc 86%
    • LHCB RHUL 76% Bristol 74% (Availability only)
    • CMS Bristol 77%
  • WLCG weekly ops meeting minutes from Monday 11th.
  • Today there are issues affecting the databases that GOCDB relies on, leading to very slow responses through the portal and API.
WLCG Operations Coordination - AgendasWiki Page

Monday 9th July

  • There was a WLCG ops coordination meeting on 5th July. Minutes.

Monday 25th June

Monday 16th April

  • There was a meeting on 12th. Agenda | Minutes.
    • Balazs Konya is new in the role of WLCG Middleware Officer.
    • Next meeting 7th June.
    • Delay for submission of GGUS tickets for recalculation should be respected. It is 10 days after monthly drafts of the availability reports are sent around by WLCG project office. If the GGUS tickets are not submitted respecting 10 days delay, they are not accepted.
    • A/R recalculations will be accepted if they are relevant to the site MoU commitment or concern time ranges of sufficient length.

Tier-1 - Status Page

Tue 31st July Report for the Experiments Liaison Report (30/07/2018) is here.

  • Every circuit breaker located in Tier-1's R89 building was tested between Tuesday 24th - Thursday 26th July. This testing period was completed successfully. The majority of racks were powered by dual PDUs which were on different circuit breakers and so theoretically, nothing should have gone down. In reality 23 PDUs failed over the 3 day period. This was within the expected number of failures although it was at the highest end of our estimates. We had sufficient replacement PDUs.
  • Impact to Tier-1:
    • 2 Production Castor disk servers went down with temporary lost of access to some file access.
    • Castor transfer manager went down for ATLAS, lost of ability to schedule new transfers for ~20 minutes.
    • A few SL5 machines also went down. No impact on service but a useful reminder to get them decommissioned properly.
    • It should be worth noting that two Echo storage nodes went down with no impact on service. This happened because their power cables weren’t correctly fitted.
    • GOCDB service was down for 45 minutes. It wasn’t directly a result of the power testing it was failed network switch (GOCDB is not on Tier-1 network, so this failure did not impact the Tier-1). The read only version (in Germany) stayed up. EGI broadcast was sent out a few minutes after the service went down.
  • HTCondor workshop at RAL - 4 to 7 September Today - 31 July - last day for early-bird registration. Not too many registrants from UK (other than RAL), so far. There will be Condor developers are coming so opportunities to discuss issues with them face to face.

This atlas transfer error ticket looks like it hasn't been spotted. A quick peak at the DDM site shows that the errors are ongoing too. Assigned (26/7) Update - Alessandra noted that the ticket can be closed as the errors have abated.

QMUL
136414 (27/7)
Similarly a t2k ticket that seems to have been missed, although I suspect that was because Dan was busy with the air-conditioning problems and the resulting downtime. Once things are looking better and your SE is back up can you please field this ticket. Assigned (27/7)

136178 (17/7)
When things are less hectic this t2k ticket looks like it's done with (at least to my eyes). In progress (17/7)

TIER 1
134685 (23/4)
Upgrading the Tier-1's perfsonar seems to have hit a snag getting the MESH to work. Darren asks if the features can be lived with and the ticket can be closed? Waiting for reply (30/7)

136199 (18/7)
LHCB FTS problem ticket. The user had a few questions in his last two posts that might have been missed, although I think things seem in hand. In progress (27/7)
