General updates

Monday 9th July

Monday 2nd July

Monday 25th June

Monday 11th June

  • There is a pre-GDB Tuesday on benchmarking.
  • There is a June GDB on Wednesday.
  • HEPSYSMAN is next week 18th-19th June - so no ops meeting next Tuesday.
  • Winnie – 8th June problem with argo-mon.egi.eu
  • Progress towards running LSST DESC data challenge on GridPP. Lack of multicore option in DIRAC for per VO basis.
  • DPM 1.10.2 update issue
  • dCache and IPv6: GridFTP doors and pools require that if a client can connect to an IPv6 address on an interface, that interface should also have an IPv4 address to which that client can connect.
  • Brian: requested input last week to Hardware for Grid SE page.
  • Of note: VO vo.geoss.eu status from Pending to Production
  • APEL: delay in processing VM accounting records and new cloud data appearing in the Portal during the week of the 11th to 15th June. This is so that the APEL Repository can be updated to correctly assign the usage VMs incur to individual months when they run over month boundaries (i.e. long running VMs). This requires reloading a large volume of existing cloud accounting data once the update has been applied.
  • May A/R (waiting for replies to 6th June request):
    • ALICE All OK
    • Atlas RHUL 81% Lanc 86%
    • LHCB RHUL 76% Bristol 74% (Availability only)
    • CMS Bristol 77%
  • WLCG weekly ops meeting minutes from Monday 11th.
  • Today there are issues affecting the databases that GOCDB relies on, leading to very slow responses through the portal and API.
WLCG Operations Coordination - AgendasWiki Page

Monday 9th July

  • There was a WLCG ops coordination meeting on 5th July. Minutes.

Monday 25th June

Monday 16th April

  • There was a meeting on 12th. Agenda | Minutes.
    • Balazs Konya is new in the role of WLCG Middleware Officer.
    • Next meeting 7th June.
    • Delay for submission of GGUS tickets for recalculation should be respected. It is 10 days after monthly drafts of the availability reports are sent around by WLCG project office. If the GGUS tickets are not submitted respecting 10 days delay, they are not accepted.
    • A/R recalculations will be accepted if they are relevant to the site MoU commitment or concern time ranges of sufficient length.

Tier-1 - Status Page

Tue 17th July Report for the Experiments Liaison Report (02/07/2018) is here.

  • Tier-1 has been very much business as usual this week. The only incident of real note was the loss of an Atlas server(gdss747 - d1t0). This incident involved a lost drive that was found to be not recoverable. Subsequently a data loss declared. Under normal circumstances this would be considered a serious incident, however Atlas are all but complete in the process of migrating from CASTOR to ECHO. As such, no primary data had been lost with 89% of lost data comprising log files.
  • Worker nodes and CONDOR are now running new Docker containers running Singularity. Further changes include an update to use UMD4. This new container is currently being tested and is running on arc-ce04.
  • The new Docker container image (stfc/grid-workernode-c6:2018-07-09.2 and stfc/grid-workernode-c7:2018-07-09.2), has been rolled out across the entire batch farm.

Monday 23rd July 2018, 15.00 BST
41 Open Tickets this week.

136112 (14/7)
This atlas ticket is waiting on input from someone from the cloud squad to check on queue status. Elena jumped in front of that task, but was travelling last week. Any joy getting round to it Elena? Waiting for reply (18/7)

136014 (10/7)
An atlas ticket for Sheffield transfers, not meaning to pick on you Elena but any luck looking at this ticket too? In Progress (23/7)

135976 (6/7)
Another atlas ticket, this one for deletion errors. It landed with all the Edinburgh admins were at CHEP, any luck tackling it now that (I assume) at least some of you are back on home soil? In progress (12/7)

135925 (3/7)
This CMS transfer failure ticket was reopened after being closed by the VO, so I thought I'd bring it to your attention as it's easy to miss them when this happens. Reopened (20/7)

136178 (17/7)
The age old story, a (t2k) user tried to use lcg-tools, Dan suggests they use gfal tools instead, gfal tools work for the user. Unless Dan wants to dig into why obsolete tools weren't working for his sites SE I think this ticket can be closed. In progress (17/7)

129930 (4/8/2017)
The atlas ticket heralding the coming of EOS at Birmingham. Any chance of us being able to close this ticket before it hits its first anniversary? On hold (23/4)

124876 (7/11/16)
This old ECHO sam test ticket is so close the being closed, just waiting on a small change to be rolled out on the cluster. How goes this? In the mean time I took the liberty of putting the ticket back "In Progress". Reopened (28/6)

136138 (16/7)
A sequel to an old t2k ticket with a similar problem (131815), where bringing files online takes too long. The original request was for the Tier 1 to bring the files online manually if possible, but the submitter has hacked a possible solution by explicitly setting the timeout. I think this ticket is done with, but someone (Brian?) might want to add something to the ticket before it's closed. In progress (17/7)

136104 (13/7)
A final ticket, another ROD one with a weird date, John asks if he can close the ticket and I reckon he can - but to be sure have the alarms cleared on the dashboard? In progress (23/7)

Tools - MyEGI Nagios
