* The camont collaboration is no longer active, but the VO is enabled and useful. Previous contributors to the camont work would like to re-purpose the VO to support the Cambridge '[http://www.comprt.org/research/ghost-project Geant Human Oncology Simulation Tool]’. Providing we broadcast any change to sites supporting camont and the AUP changes (and all users re-sign it), is there any objection to this pragmatic solution (it fits well our current aim of getting varied communities using our resources successfully).

'''Tuesday 14th May'''
* Issues: NTR
+
* Next meeting this Thursday.
* T0/T1 services: LFC decommissioned. Various T1 storage updates.
+

* T0 news: Condor prototype at CERN: We have now increased the pool size to almost 300 cores; ATLAS T0 LSF instance: the required capacity (110 KSpec) has been provided; The T0 receives more and more tickets (coming from GGUS or directly from SNOW) which are related to experiment support.
+
'''Tuesday 9th April'''
* T1: NTR
+
* Ops meeting last week: https://twiki.cern.ch/twiki/bin/view/LCG/WLCGOpsMinutes190404
* T2: NTR
+

* ALICE: 80k concurrent jobs reached for many hours on Jun 21-22. Failed jobs due to CVMFS cache corruption; network incident Fri evening Jun 26 caused all VOBOXes for CERN to become unreachable; latest CASTOR versions are incompatible with old xrd3cp implementation.
+

* * Tier-1 sites requested to upgrade to Xrootd 4.1 (or newer).
+
'''Tuesday 26th March'''
* ATLAS: seeing lost files due to interaction between Rucio/FTS, something in Rucio, something in FTS.
+
* For information, there was an Ops meeting on the 7th: https://twiki.cern.ch/twiki/bin/viewauth/LCG/WLCGOpsMinutes190307 (I think we might have dicussed this one).
* CMS: Good utilization; Faulty MC production workflows seen (me allocations >100GB); Root certificate of Spanish CA recently expired at some sites.
+
* Next meeting booked for 4th April
* LHCb: Problems with DPM SEs at T2 sites. Some files had no checksum. Checking and recovering checksum for all files.

'''17 June 2019''' Report for the Experiments Liaison Report (17/06/2019) is [https://www.gridpp.ac.uk/wiki/Tier1_Operations_Report_2019-06-17 here].
* Little planned this week as there are open days at RAL.
+
<!-- *********************************************************** ----->
* We have a small number of worker nodes running a test configuration (these obtain the grid middleware via cvmfs).
+
* Planning an intervention by the vendor on our faulty router - likely to be an outage of the Tier1 on 4th August (to be confirmed).
+
* Currently our OPS availablity is hit by the problem of the ARC-CE test that fails.
+

<!-- **********************End T1 text************************** ----->

<!-- **********************End T1 text************************** ----->
 +
* Ongoing, we are seeing high outbound packet loss over IPv6.  Central networking performed a firmware update to the border routers but this didn’t resolve the issue.  Plan to move connections to the new border routers in Mid June.  Will do this before trying to debug any further.

 +
* Three certificates were revoked mistakenly on ARGUS on Thursday.  All SAM tests failed until this was fixed the next morning.  Batch farm also did not start any new jobs during this time.  We used this accidental draining to reboot nodes that needed to pick up security patching.
 +
* LHCb Castor instance has been completely disabled for LHCb and will be decommissioned.
 +
* Brian Davies has transferred from his role as GridPP Tier-2 Storage Support Officer and has joined the Tier-1 Production Team.  Although this has happened with immediate effect he will still be available for ad-hoc/informal storage support.

Changes to Approved for DUNE (and LZ)
 +
 +
There is a new "Approved VOs" document showing new settings for DUNE. And, since both LZ's voms servers now show up in the EGI Portal, I've removed the (now spurious) entry for voms.hep.wisc.edu that was formerly being inserted by hand.
 +
 +
https://www.gridpp.ac.uk/wiki/GridPP_approved_VOs
 +
 +
I've also created a new set of RPMs (each has all LSC, VOMS, and XML for one VO) for all approved VOs. See Approved VOs doc for details, version is 1.9.
 +
 +
Sites with DUNE services need to update using whatever method they employ.
 +
 +
Special note: Since voms1.fnal.gov changed yesterday, I've updated documentation for that right away. But voms2.fnal.gov remains as it is until 23rd April (3 weeks). I'll update documentation for that when it is closer. Staggering the updates like this gives a time margin, so any particular site can have at least one service properly configured at any time.  But it does mean that two site updates are needed; one now, and one in three weeks. However, since it's sufficient for only one (of the two) voms servers to be configured properly, sites could save effort and wait until (say) 19th April, then update both at once. But I can't dictate what site admins should do. It's your call.

** ...Concerning LHCONE for both T1 and T2. The high level summary is that the UK is not in favour, as within the UK we have no explicit need for LHCONE for any reason of T1 capacity planning, but to implement it involves additional complexity and possibly cost. The current system works fine and we therefore see no overriding reason to remove T1-T1 transit via LHCOPN. ...The UK is sensitive to the “collective” needs of the community, and as a general statement we would always seek to address any legitimate request agreed by the WLCG MB in order to play our role in meeting international expectations.

30 Open UK Tickets this month. Looking at them all!

'''NGI'''<br />

[https://ggus.eu/?mode=ticket_info&ticket_id=114233 114233] (10/6)<br />

The UK not publishing core counts at all sites. Some progress, but at last check John G couldn't see a change for Oxford or Glasgow. In progress (30/6) ''Update - Glasgow seems to be okay after de-creaming one of their "dodgey" CEs.''

'''RALPP'''<br />

[https://ggus.eu/?mode=ticket_info&ticket_id=114442 114442] (18/6)<br />

Gridpp Pilot role ticket. Accounts need to be created, but no word for a few weeks. In progress (19/6)

[https://ggus.eu/?mode=ticket_info&ticket_id=114764 114764] (1/7)<br />

Ticket tracking (false) availability issues, created to appease COD - the problem caused by a broken CA rpm release for Arc CEs. Kashif has created a counter-ticket [https://ggus.eu/index.php?mode=ticket_info&ticket_id=114742 114742] Gordon's sagely advice is to submit a recalculation request once the issue is fixed. Assigned (1/7)

'''BRISTOL'''<br />

[https://ggus.eu/?mode=ticket_info&ticket_id=114485 114485] (19/6)<br />

Bristol's gridpp pilot role ticket. No news, could do with an update really. In progress (22/6)

[https://ggus.eu/?mode=ticket_info&ticket_id=114426 114426] (18/6)<br />

CMS AAA reading test problems. The Bristol admins have transferred data to their new shiny SE and have asked CMS to test again. No word since. Waiting for reply (30/6)

'''EDINBURGH'''<br />

[https://ggus.eu/?mode=ticket_info&ticket_id=95303 95303] (1/7/13...)<br />

Tarball glexec ticket, now 2 years old. After a really promising burst the last 6 weeks haven't seen any progress, due to a lot of other "normal" tarball work taking up the time. Sorry! On hold (18/5)

'''DURHAM'''<br />
+
32 Open Tickets this week, which is an in depth a look as I've been able to take.
[https://ggus.eu/?mode=ticket_info&ticket_id=114536 114536] (22/6)<br />
+
Durham's gridpp pilot role ticket. Not acknowledged yet, is Oliver back yet? Assigned (22/6)
+

+
[https://ggus.eu/?mode=ticket_info&ticket_id=114765 114765] (1/7)<br />
+
See RALPP ticket 114764. Assigned (1/7)
+

+
[https://ggus.eu/?mode=ticket_info&ticket_id=114727 114727] (30/6)<br />
+
Catalin ticketed that a number of SW_DIR variables at Durham are still pointing to the old school .gridpp.ac.uk cvmfs space. Assigned (30/6)
+

+
[https://ggus.eu/?mode=ticket_info&ticket_id=114381 114381] (16/6)<br />
+
John G ticketed Durham over a small percentage of jobs being published as "zero core". Looks like a SLURM timeout problem, although a fix isn't obvious. Put on the back burner whilst Oliver is on holiday. On Hold (19/6)
+

+
'''SHEFFIELD'''<br />
+
[https://ggus.eu/?mode=ticket_info&ticket_id=114649 114649] (26/6)<br />
+
A ticket from a Sno+ user about not being able to access software using the Sheffield CEs. Acknowledged but no news. In progress (26/6) ''Update - Elena can't find anything wrong, cvmfs seems to be working fine. Perhaps a problem with the environment?''

Tuesday 4th June 2019

WLCG Operations Coordination - AgendasWiki Page

Tuesday 11th June

  • I got stuck (figuratively) in my machine room last Thursday afternoon so missed it. Agenda. Minutes. Ste was there - any observations?

Tuesday 14th May

  • Next meeting this Thursday.

Tuesday 9th April

Tuesday 26th March

Monday 11th February 2019

  • There was a WLCG ops coordination meeting last Thursday. You can view the meeting notes here.
    • End of CREAM support Dec 2020.
    • Migration from CREAM to be discussed at the EGI conference 6-8 of May in Amsterdam.
    • Operational intelligence discussion (see slides).
    • Experiment updates (see ATLAS discussion on DOMA)
    • WG updates (few).

Tier-1 - Status Page

17 June 2019 Report for the Experiments Liaison Report (17/06/2019) is here.

  • Ongoing, we are seeing high outbound packet loss over IPv6. Central networking performed a firmware update to the border routers but this didn’t resolve the issue. Plan to move connections to the new border routers in Mid June. Will do this before trying to debug any further.

11 June 2019 Report for the Experiments Liaison Report (10/06/2019) is here.

  • Ongoing, we are seeing high outbound packet loss over IPv6. Central networking performed a firmware update to the border routers but this didn’t resolve the issue. Plan to move connections to the new border routers in Mid June. Will do this before trying to debug any further.
  • Three certificates were revoked mistakenly on ARGUS on Thursday. All SAM tests failed until this was fixed the next morning. Batch farm also did not start any new jobs during this time. We used this accidental draining to reboot nodes that needed to pick up security patching.
  • LHCb Castor instance has been completely disabled for LHCb and will be decommissioned.
  • Brian Davies has transferred from his role as GridPP Tier-2 Storage Support Officer and has joined the Tier-1 Production Team. Although this has happened with immediate effect he will still be available for ad-hoc/informal storage support.

Documentation - KeyDocs

Tue 9th July 2019

LHCb has added this to their requirements:

Sites not having an SRM installation must provide:

Tue 16th April 2019

Minor change to LHCB requirements in Approved VOs:

  • Sites having migrated to the Centos7 (including "Cern Centos7") operating system or later versions are requested to provide support for singularity containers.

https://www.gridpp.ac.uk/wiki/GridPP_approved_VOs#VO_Resource_Requirements

Tue 2nd April 2019

Changes to Approved for DUNE (and LZ)

There is a new "Approved VOs" document showing new settings for DUNE. And, since both LZ's voms servers now show up in the EGI Portal, I've removed the (now spurious) entry for voms.hep.wisc.edu that was formerly being inserted by hand.

https://www.gridpp.ac.uk/wiki/GridPP_approved_VOs

I've also created a new set of RPMs (each has all LSC, VOMS, and XML for one VO) for all approved VOs. See Approved VOs doc for details, version is 1.9.

Sites with DUNE services need to update using whatever method they employ.
