Tuesday 1st May
Report for the Experiments Liaison Meeting (30th April 2018) is here.
- The proposed emergency chassis intervention was brought forward (23/5/18 - 13:00), when the chassis began to intermittently reboot itself. This intervention was completed successfully and without further incident.
- The scheduled firewall replacement (25/4/18), appeared to be completed successfully. However, during the afternoon the connection between the Tier1 network and the RAL core was failing intermittently. The problem seemed to get worse as the afternoon progressed. Due to disruptions to connectivity both on and off site, caused (we think), by running on the new secondary firewall, we flipped the Master-Slave router pair so that the Master was running on the standby side. The change occurred at approximately 17:00 on the Wednesday and normal service was subsequently restored. There is currently an ongoing investigation as to why the firewalls did not fail-over correctly. There is an "at risk" scheduled outage for the 2nd May 2018 when Networking/DS will be performing another firewall switch-over to ensure that this issue has been resolved.
- Our primary OPN link went down on Tuesday morning (24/4/18), OPN two and three stayed up. This was resolved by Wednesday (25/4/18), around 15:00. JANET appear to have fixed this issue by the age old SysAdmin trick of "switching it off and then back on again".

Tier-2 Evolution - GridPP JIRA
|
Tuesday 8th May
- Updated the instructions in the wiki about supporting GridPP DIRAC Service VOs at Vac sites. This makes use of the multipart vacuum pipes in Vac 3.0, which allow the definitions of multiple VMs to be obtained from a single JSON file: https://www.gridpp.ac.uk/wiki/Vac_configuration_for_GridPP_DIRAC (The same mechanism will work in Vcycle 1.0)
Tuesday 10 Apr
- Vac 3.0 and Vcycle 1.0 released: see GridPP40 talk for details. In particular, it is now possible to add all the GridPP DIRAC VOs to a Vac or Vcycle site with three lines of configuration.
Tuesday 3 Apr
- Vac 02.00.03 released with a workaround for CernVM bug CVM-1501, which is due to a bug in Cloud Init 0.7.5 which CernVM 3 has used since Thursday of last week. VM creation fails due to malformed EC2 meta-data URLs.
Tuesday 27 Mar

Tuesday 4th July
- There were a number of useful links provided in the monitoring talks at the WLCG workshop in Manchester - especially those in the Wednesday sessions.

Monday 5th March
- AM->GS. A quiet week last week.
Monday 29th January
- There were a couple of alarms which showed up on the dashboard, but not on the corresponding nagios.
- DB got fed up with Imperial failing the job-cancel test for CREAM -- the CE is just busy and returns the cancelled state about 30 s after the test 'fails' -- so she filed a ticket questioning the usefulness of the test: https://ggus.eu/?mode=ticket_info&ticket_id=133004.
Monday 20th November
- Generally quiet. There are three outstanding tickets: low availability at Birmingham, one at Liverpool which might just have gone green, and out-of-date IGTF CAs at Sheffield.

Tickets
|
Friday 4th May 2018, 17.00 BST.
Due to the Bank Holiday no proper look at the tickets this week, just the obligatory link to all the UK tickets.
Raul pointed me to a CMS ticket, 134763, that might be of interest to sites running condor and moving to IPv6. The problem was worked around rather then solved (disabling IPv6 in the CMS condor instances).
Another ticket that caught my eye were the RALPP ticket 134899, which is still just assigned but I believe the issue is already solved.
