Glasgow Cluster Management System (YPF)

The new Glasgow cluster management system replaces, simplifies and improves on the CVOS system which was run before svr031 had its nasty accident.

The cluster configuration is stored in a SQLite database (any other database could be trivially used), and from here all neccessary information about the cluster can be extracted, e.g., /etc/hosts can be generated and the APC ports can be queried to power down sections of the cluster, etc.

This information is used for maintinance and basic installs; however, most of the node configuration is delegated to cfengine, with scripts converting the information into a format that cfengine likes if necessary.
