"Welcome" - Michel Jouvin

Notes:

  • Short GDB, no PM session.

"WLCG Monitoring Consolidation" - Pablo Saiz

Basically, the idea is to boil all the existing stuff down and come up with a clean baseline. This will involve centralisation, removing redundancy, reducing scope, better structure, modularity, clean dataflow/processes and merging. Some discussion of technologies, e.g. ElasticSearch, Koji, Bamboo, and process model to use for this development. During questions, it was insisted that more iteration with sites is needed, esp. wrt Nagios integration. We need site-focussed requirements iteration because sites outnumber experiments by 50:1 (Templon).

Timeline is: Prototype by Oct, Implementation next year.

"ALICE SW Evolution" - Predrag Buncic

Pedrag gave us a run-down on the main components of ALIC software, i.e. ROOT/xRootD, AliRoot, AliEn, MonALISA. Many millions of LOCs. Many changes will happen to due detector upgrade and more demanding runs. Data Model also to be dramatically reworked, with large reduction in bulk of data via compression. Mention was made of opportunistic scheduling, BigPanda, CVMFS. He also mentioned use of new technologies such as GPU, FPGA, but these don't appear to be imminent.

"ATLAS WebDav plans " - Cedric Serfon

Current DDM, DQ2, is running out of steam. New one, Rucio, to be brought in. Protocol to be WebDav, which can replace SRM. Used on dCache/DPM/StoRM etc.

  • For DPM, DPM 1.8.7 + lcgdm-dav0.12
  • dCache easy.
  • StoRM being tested by QMUL.

But: giant file rename needed to prepare for Rucio. See slides for details.

Note: *** Sites are asked to deploy WebDAV (end of year) ***

"Ops Coordination Report" - Andrea Sciaba

See slides. News about perfSONAR, dCache timelines, SHA-2, BDII changes, CVMFS, glExec progress, extensions to Stage Rollout,

Special notes:

  • SHA-2 deadline 1st Dec.
  • EGI Technical Forum (16-20/9)

"SL6 Migration Status" – Alessandra Forti

This is much discussed at the ops meeting, so I'll just say that Alessandra went through all the figures and urged sites to move to SL6 soon.

"SHA-2 and EMI-3 Deployment Roadmap" - Peter Solagna

Monitoring is ongoing over the various services. Deadline was 1st October. Action to apply the new strict deadline (Dec 1st) for the upgrade of non SHA-2 compliant services.

New timeline proposal: EUGridPMA to keep SHA-1 as the default certificate signature until: 1st December 2013 (+ 2 months)

  • To be discussed at the next EUGridPMA meeting. Grid services must be SHA-2 compliant by the end of November.
  • Strict deadline: downtime/suspension for services not upgraded.
