The EDG Replica Catalog was developed as part of Work Package 2 of the European Data Grid project.
The Replica Catalog had two components which were deployed into LCG:
In fact this was a very limited deployment of the software developed by WP2, which also included a Replica Location Service, which was a component enabling different Local Replica Catalogs to act in concert; and a Replica Optimisation Service, which was to provide information about the cheapest replica to access.
