Introduction
This is the wiki homepage for GridPP activity on CERN@school.
Getting Started
- Get logged on and set-up in a working area with access to the Grid.
- Make sure you've got your Grid certificate installed on your system (i.e. in .globus)
- Initialise you proxy:
voms-proxy-init --voms cernatschool.org
- Find the WMS sites that are supported by the CERN@school VO:
lcg-infosites wms
- Then ensure that the environment variable
GLITE_WMS_WMPROXY_ENDPOINT
points to one of these WMSs:
export GLITE_WMS_WMPROXY_ENDPOINT=https://wms02.grid.hep.ph.ic.ac.uk:7443/glite_wms_wmproxy_server
Technical Details
Local File Catalog (LFC)
This can be found by using the command:
lcg-infosites lfc --vo cernatschool.org
which returns lfc.gridpp.rl.ac.uk
. See the "Data Management" section of the crash course for more information.

The cernatschool.org Virtual Organisation (VO)
The CERN@school VO represents the CERN@school project on the Grid. CERN@school aims to bring CERN technology into the classroom to aid with the teaching of physics and to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers. The CERN@school VO will allow students and teachers involved with the project to harness GridPP to store and analyse data from the CERN@school detectors, the LUCID experiment and the associated GEANT4 simulations.
