GridPP has a long history of collaboration with the manufacturers of computing hardware, resellers, and related industries, which has been mutually beneficial.
One forum for communication is the regular bi-annual GridPP collaboration meetings that bring together 50-60 people from 18 UK institutes and CERN, for 2-3 days of mostly technical discussion. These meetings are normally held in March/April, and then August/September.
There is a standing opportunity for companies to sponsor the Collaboration Dinner: attend one or all days of the meeting to talk directly with a wide range of technical and academic people; and to make a short technical presentation. Space permitting, it is also sometime possible to arrange a display table. The typical cost of the dinner (depends a little on the venue as well as the number of attendees) is around £2500.
