NOTE
As of 13/3/08, the major functions of the Tier-1 Board have been devolved
to the Deployment Board. However a GridPP review of the Tier-1 was carried out on Nov 21st 2008 and this will be repeated on approximately an annual basis becoming a Tier 1 board of sorts. As such the information provided on this page relating to the Tier 1 board is to be considered of historical interest only.
The Tier-1 Board
The Tier-1 Board advised the stakeholders on whether the Tier-1
Service at RAL is delivering its objectives on time and making appropriate
use of its available resources and reviews UK input to International
MoU negotiations.
Terms of Reference
To oversee and monitor the progress and quality of the agreed Tier-1 deliverables as defined by the GridPP Project.
To receive and examine reports on progress and technical developments.
To identify issues pertinent to the success of the Tier-1 Service and recommend appropriate action.
To report to the STFC Director of Particle Physics on the progress and quality of the service.
To identify issues pertinent to the UK's ability to provide International
computing resources.
To identify issues relating to the provision of the agreed Tier-1 capacity in the LCG MoU, in terms of timescales and estimated cost.
To report to the STFC Head of Particle Physics Division (Janet Seed), where appropriate, on strategic issues.
The Board is expected to meet at least three times each year during the lifetime of the project.
The Tier-1 Procurement Team (membership: Tier-1 Board plus Dave Corney) is currently meeting ~monthly via phone to review the 2007 purchase.
