Quick Start Guide for LCG2
The current release of LCG is given here. Many data challenges are destined for the LCG resources and LCG strives to be a production quality stable grid.
Accessing LCG2 Resources.
To access resources you must register with LCG.
- Obtain a grid certificate from the UK E-Science certificate authority.
- With this certificate now installed in your browser visit http://lcg-registrar.cern.ch and register with one of the VOs there. Currently Alice, Atlas, CMS, LHCB, DZero and BaBar are supported here. This will take a few days to be processed.
You must have access to an LCG UI for job submission. RAL tier1/A maintains lcgui.gridpp.rl.ac.uk as a public access machine. Any CSF account is valid on this machine. You can apply for a tier1/A account if you do not have one.
Alternatively there is an install guide for how to set up your own UI.
To obtain an idea of what resources are currently available the Grid Operations Center publishes lists and maps of sites who are currently available within LCG.
Providing Resources to LCG.
If you are interested in providing resources within LCG you should follow the lcg2-install-notes.txt which describe the procedure for both announcing your intrest and then installing software either with LCFGng or manually following very detailed instructions.Part of this procedure includes contacting the Tier1 center at RAL using lcg-support@gridpp.rl.ac.uk.
There is an FAQ for deployment of LCG-2 in GridPP.
