Role of the User Cordinator

The Role of the User Coordinator (formerly User Board Chair) is to:

1. Liaise with UK particle physics experiments/projects to agree and understand their short-term and long-term computing requirements and strategies.

2. Chair the quarterly Tier 1 resource meetings.

3. Broker the Tier 1 hardware allocations and priorities and liaise with T1 staff on their implementation.

4. Take specific responsibility for communicating with the non-LHC experiments and capturing and planning their ongoing hardware requirements alongside the LHC requirements.

5. Sit on the Project Management Board and inform the PMB of new user requirements and issues in a regular weekly slot.

6. Identify direct contacts within each of the projects exploiting the UK Grid to form the User Group. Where there is no obvious contact, the UK Spokesperson will be consulted for a candidate.

7. Coordinate any requests for (limited) user support from GridPP.

8. Engage with the wider UK particle physics community (not just the LHC experiments) by appropriate means.
