GridPP EB AccessGrid
We will hold the meeting in the University of Manchester (CSAR) Virtual Venue. If node operators can be there 30 minutes before hand then this is usually helpful and allows us to switch some sites to unicast if there are multicast problems.
All sites /can/ just turn up but it would be helpful if we know who to expect and how to expect them.
Facilities:
A list of Access Grid Sites in the UK may be helpful
People wishing to attend the meeting at an AG node must contact the node and arrange for an operator, I can help with this if need be.
I strongly recommend you join in at a real AG node as you may get a poor impression of AG if you attend via a makeshift node! And you'll look silly if you're the only one wearing headphones!
(Also, if need be one person can join by dialling in to Manchester's Access Grid a la phone conference. This might be true at other Access Grid Nodes too.)
If you must connect from a non-access grid site (and not by phoning in as above) you can do so by installing a Personal Access Grid Node or VRVS:
Software:
Downloads are available . Or you can use VRVS, VRVS comes with vic and rat; programme for video and audio transmission. If your VRVS vis and rat are multicast enabled then you can just join the access grid conference by executing:rat -t 127 233.2.171.181/59708
vic -t 127 233.2.171.181/59706
there is also a VRVS to AG documentation page
I can run a unicast-multicast bridge if multicast is not available at your site.
Hardware:
You will need a PC, web cam and either a speaker and microphone with an echo canceller (eg Clear One Communication's ACCUMIC II or PolySpan's Sound Point PC) or a speaker/phone head set.I'm afraid Polycom does not quite interoperate with Access Grid at the moment.
