GACL - a Grid ACL manipulation library
GACL is a C library for manipulating Grid Access Control Lists, written in
XML-based Access Control Languages. The aim of GACL is to insulate
application authors from changes in ACL format and to provide easy access
to ACL information (ie to remove the need for every application to know how
to parse XML and evaluate ACL's.)
GACL has grown out of the ACL handling of
SlashGrid and
GridSite. SlashGrid now uses
the standalone GACL library, and GridSite is being
modified to support GACL ACL's. The 0.9 rewrite of GridSite
applies GACL access control in an Apache module,
mod_gridsite.
My talk at the May
EDG security workshop at CERN has some background information
and the rationale for GACL.
Current sources and RPMS of the 0.9.0 version are
available from the EDG CVS and
package repository,
and are (still) described by the
0.1.5 Release Notes
(A recent unstable snapshot is usually also in the
EDG CVS)
